The Foothills Foundation

$232.94

Our vision is that every South Jeffco neighbor is a connected part our community, and benefits from our parks and recreational areas.

We’re grounded in core operating principles of community, volunteerism, and a passion for our parks and recreational areas – making South Jeffco the best place in Colorado to live. We believe strongly that our parks and recreational areas are an essential part of what makes our unincorporated community so attractive and strong – they bring our community together; they help fulfill our need to enjoy the Colorado outdoors; and they provide an enhanced quality of life for our community residences and businesses.

In line with vision, The Foothills Foundation hosts or sponsors three major community events annually to bring our community together and raise funds for the Foothills Parks and Recreational District. Combined, our hosting of the Annual Golf Tournament in June; sponsorship of Red, White & You in July, and hosting of the Summerset Festival in September help raise more than $20,000 annually for park improvement programs in support of local cultural, educational and recreational programs and activities.

Our organization is comprised of business and community leaders who volunteer their time and talents to run the organization, host and volunteer at each of these three events. Additionally, we employ community volunteers from schools, churches, businesses and neighbors to help make our events successful.

“You and your volunteers deserve a round of Vendor Applause for all you did to make Summerset Festival the best outdoor venue this season! Your attention to the details that take a Vendor Experience from average to outstanding is as exemplary as what you do for the guests. (Who else brings water around to fill the dog bowls?!)”

- The best outdoor venue - Summerset Festival

I’ve had an opportunity to work on a number of different not for profit and non-profit boards over the years and have never experienced such a passionate and committed group of volunteers. Everyone loves our community, our parks and rec areas, goes out of their way to make our events successful, and have such a vision of making South Jeffco a great community. Equally amazing is the number of volunteers that help out each event for the same purpose and love of our community. Love this foundation.

  • Program Name:

31st Annual Foothills Foundation Golf Tournament

  • Program Description:

The 31st annual Foothills Foundation golf tournament is an outing all about having fun and a great way to help raise funds for our local Foothills Parks & Recreation District, namely to help develop the Experience Garden at Clement Park. Through the support of tournament participation, hole sponsors and event sponsors, we aim to raise $15,000 to help fund the construction, materials and vegetation needed to develop an Experience Garden that appeals to everyone of all ages and abilities. All proceeds raised from this golf tournament are contributed directly to the FPRD in support of this effort. Previous fund raising efforts helped to support the recently introduced splash park, playground equipment and numerous new trees at Clement Park.

The Foothills Park & Recreation District

  • Budget:

    15000

  • Success Story:

Rare to find a fund-raising golf tournament that has survived three decades, the success of our golf tournament comes from the mutual desire to make our community parks and recreational areas great. The tournament attracts local South Jeffco businesses of all types and is run in close collaboration with The Meadows Golf Course. In 2017, we sold out with waiting list two-weeks prior to the event, celebrated a hole-in-one winner and raised over $10,000 for FPRD.

  • Program Name:

    35th Annual Summerset Festival

  • Program Description:

Summerset Festival is one of South Jeffco’s largest community-fueled fundraising events to drive support for our local Foothills Parks & Recreation District. Through hundreds of participating business and craft booths, donations and event sponsorship, we bring together an exciting lineup of concerts, local food and culture, family fun, business fair, Jeffco Sheriff safety fair and new craft beer testing.

Drawing more than 10,000 people to enjoy and celebrate our community, The Foothills Foundation with the help from up to 50 volunteers organize and host Summerset Festival which is free and open to attendees of all ages and abilities. Through donations, booths, the craft beer tasting event, and sponsorships, we aim to raise $25,000 to help fund the construction, materials and vegetation needed to develop an Experience Garden that appeals to everyone of all ages and abilities. All proceeds raised from this golf tournament are contributed directly to the FPRD in support of this effort.

In years past, proceeds from Summerset Festival have helped plant much needed shade trees, support park improvements like playground and exercise equipment, and deliver other park beautification projects at multiple South Jeffco parks including Clement Park.

  • Beneficiaries:

The Foothills Park & Recreation District

  • Budget:

    20000

  • Success Story:

Now in its 35th year, the Summerset Festival might be the longest, continuously running Festival in Colorado. The success of our festival is rooted in our undying passion to bring our community together - businesses, families, neighbors and friends; and celebrate the ending of Summer in style. Attracting more than 10,000 attendees, there is something for everyone. From relaxing and picnicking to the sounds of local bands, to enjoying local food trucks and vendors, to visiting hundreds of local businesses, crafters and non-profits, to tasting incredible craft beers from local brewers, to admiring vintage cars, and getting to play in the KidzKorner; we strive to make the festival an absolute joy for everyone.

In 2017, we estimate we had just under 10,000 attendees, featured 3 main stage acts, filled our exhibitor area, celebrated the Colorado Disc Dogs, featured nearly a dozen local breweries, packed the KidzKorner and had Jeffco Sheriffs feature a safety fair among many other activities in the hot September sun. Proceeds of more than $12,000 were raised to help fund the recent enhancements to Clement Park.
