Who We Are
Southern Colorado YFC is a Juvenile Justice Ministry who reaches high risk, detained, and incarcerated youth in Colorado Springs, Pueblo, and Canon City, We work together with the local church and other like-minded partners to raise up lifelong followers of Jesus who lead by their godliness in lifestyle, devotion to the Word of God and prayer, passion for sharing the love of Christ, and commitment to social involvement.
“The Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Mark 10:45
Youth For Christ wholeheartedly embraces the “and” of Mark 10:45. Jesus came to serve and to deliver the message of transformation. He came to embrace and to liberate. We look to Him as we carry out that “and” — the call to act, with an eternal perspective.
At Youth For Christ, our passion is to minister in the name of Jesus. We choose to walk the very same bridge He used; the “and” bridge combining Christian service with Christ’s sacrifice. We are liberated by His forgiveness and propelled by His love, to continually declare mercy and truth. We are ministers of His grace, on campuses and in juvenile halls… in wide open spaces and on congested street corners… to the outcasts, the transparent, the terrified.
At Southern Colorado Youth For Christ, we engage young people in relational outreach while they are in a variety of youth-serving institutions (detention centers, probation, correctional facilities, group homes, and residential treatment centers). This strategy helps them acquire and develop a way of living taught by Jesus Christ, balancing the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of life. These valued relationships are sustained through ongoing involvement as they reenter our community.
Our Vision & Method of Ministry
Our vision is to reach out to teens in a variety of youth serving institutions, giving them an opportunity to make an informed decision to become a follower of Jesus Christ and become a part of the local church.
OUR METHOD of MINISTRY:
Our method of ministry is to recruit, train, and place local Christian adults with institutionalized youth, who, as Christ followers share their time, experiences, and faith with the youth placed in their care. Our method gives us strategic tools and balanced programming to pursue young people in Southern Colorado who are experiencing the challenges of incarcerations, abandonment, addictions, and abuse.
