Honor Bell Foundation, Inc. is a Colorado nonprofit, 501(c)(3) corporation based in Denver. Its primary purpose is to provide a unique funeral honor for deceased military veterans through the slow ringing, known as tolling, of a ceremonial bell. The foundation also provides veteran outreach and community education.
To accomplish this mission, the Foundation has produced the Honor Bell to offer honors at the funerals of U.S. military veterans and to augment the dignity and respect that should be paid to those that have served our nation. In addition, the Bell is used at public events, schools, and other opportunities to educate young people and the general public about the significance of dignity, honor and respect owed to our military and fallen heroes. A program regarding military service, the ceremony associated with funeral rites, and the sacrifice made by those who serve has formulated for this purpose.
The Honor Bell is the only bell in the nation cast specifically to honor veterans and it is only tolled by veterans. These men and women volunteer their time, and find a new way to serve as they honor their brothers and sisters in arms. We have rendered Bell Honors over 2,000 times at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
During 2020, we are raising funds and awareness to create a second Honor Bell! This instrument will be committed to the Colorado Springs and surrounding area, based at Pikes Peak National Cemetery. Our goal, with your generous support, is to dedicate this Bell on Veterans Day 2020.
