Angel Eyes

No donations

Angel Eyes is a credited 501(c)3 non-profit organization, formally The Colorado SIDS Program, incorporated in 1981. The Colorado SIDS Program was the first, and one of the few, SIDS organizations to combine a parent and a professional organization into one agency to provide a statewide approach to SIDS services.

In 2008, Angel Eyes recognized the need to expand services and began to provide a comprehensive array of risk reduction and awareness services concerning all cases of sudden, unexpected infant and toddler death with the only exception being cases where there is parental involvement in the criminal justice system (e.g., homicides, assault, criminal neglect) as a result of the death.

Beginning in 2012, Angel Eyes expanded their bereavement services to include more consistent individualized grief counseling to those affected by child loss through individual/ family/couples/child counseling.  Services were also expanded to support siblings of the deceased child.

Our core values are:

  • Counseling and Support – compassionate and professional bereavement counseling and support services at no charge to families, caregivers and others that are impacted by the sudden, unexpected death of an infant or toddler.
  • Education and Awareness – awareness and risk reduction education to the Colorado community.

In 2018, Angel Eyes served 58 families and 89 individuals who lost a child within the last year. Angel Eyes is located in Denver but does provide services to families statewide. As a part of the mission at Angel Eyes, we seek to provide services, education and awareness to families statewide. In 2017, 4.7 out of every 1,000 infants born died. With 64,382 births in 2017, Angel Eyes recognizes that there are many more families out there that could benefit from our services and with donor support we will be able to continue to give these families hope.

11 yrs ago Dec 19, 2007 the worst night of my life happened . I lost my son Andrew Jr to SIDS . Someone from Angel Eyes came to my house the next day to offer support and support they gave . With Christmas just around the corner, I had just gave birth Dec 3 2007 ,  and burden of paying for a funeral for our second born, not only did Angel Eyes pay for two months of our rent they provided support groups and one on one counseling. I was able to talk to others who knew how I felt and what I was going through. Others that where able to guide me through the proper grieving stages. Then, with the one on one therapy I was able to say everything I couldn’t in group. The annual walk is a wonderful way to remember our angels. A nice peaceful walk around the lake looking at all the pictures of everyone angels all the family fun the kids really enjoy all of it. Who knows what I would of done without Angel Eyes in our life. Thank you Angel Eyes from the bottom of our hearts. – The Rodriguez Family

- Who knows what I would of done without Angel Eyes in our life.

Angel Eyes is an amazing organization that has made a significant impact on my family. The organization truly helped my wife and I go through the terrible loss of our first daughter by providing free counseling sessions and group meetings. Without these counseling and group sessions, I am not sure where we would be today. Angel Eyes provided us with the emotional support we really needed during the toughest time of our lives, and their organization honestly saved us. Angel Eyes also hosts numerous events throughout the year that provide families with opportunities for healing while honoring their little loved ones. These Angel Eyes events are fun, well attended, and meaningful for all parties involved. Overall, Angel Eyes is a life changing organization with a phenomenal mission.  -The Richter Family
